Uzziah (Azariah)

Uzziah (Azariah)
(fl. 8th cent BCE)
   King of Judah (c.780-c.740 BCE). He conquered Philistia and led a league of kings opposed to Tiglath-Pileser of Assyria; he also rebuilt the port of Elath. He eventually fell victim to leprosy and ceded power to his son Jotham.
